Monaro High School
Monaro High School is located in Cooma and is part of the Monaro Education group of schools. Monaro HS has an enrolment of 610 students including many from non-English speaking and Aboriginal backgrounds. There is a very strong commitment to the partnership between students, staff, parents and the wider community. The school has strong historical and practical links with the Snowy Hydro Scheme. The school plan is grounded on the belief that to ensure effective learning we must focus on the development of the whole child. We believe there is a strong relationship between the academic (including a focus on literacy and numeracy), physical and socio-cultural needs of students and that they are of equal importance. Personalised learning including the setting of targets is supported by constant feedback, assessment for learning, reporting to parents through student reports, bulletins and the ASR. Since 2007 the school has been instituting Positive Behaviour for Success initiatives and procedures. We promote and reward Safe, Respectful Learners. The school participates with distinction in academic, cultural and sporting competitions.
