East Hills Girls Technology High School

Welcome to East Hills Girls Technology High School. Our school has an excellent reputation for high student achievement in academic, creative and physical studies. Our school's motto is Honor ante Honores and our vision includes 'Educating Girls for a Technological Future'. Parents, students, teachers and administrative staff work in partnership to provide a learning environment of support, inclusivity and encouragement in which students are inspired to do their best. We believe that young women's talents should be fostered and encouraged and their technological skills developed to give them many future choices. Gifted and talented students are provided with opportunities to extend and enrich their learning, while special programs support those with learning needs. Our school offers a broad and diverse curriculum which includes Vocational Education and Training courses. Students can select courses for specialisation in the sciences, humanities, creative and performing arts, physical education, technological studies or a general education or combinations of both streams. Co-curricular activities focus on dance, drama, music, debating, sport, competitions, volunteer work and leadership. As the only girls' technology high school operating within the state system, our school has a very strong commitment to integrating learning technologies to enhance teaching and learning. Extensive and sophisticated technological resources, which include an Information and Communication Technology Centre, multi media room, interactive whiteboards, connected classrooms and computer laboratories, are available for the creation and design of curriculum modules. The success of our school's continuing focus on quality teaching is evident in the excellent results in the Higher School Certificate (HSC), NAPLAN, VALID (Science) and the many awards received by students. HSC results are consistently outstanding, with the majority of our students continuing their studies at university. A very large number of Band 6s and Band 5s are achieved by our students. NAPLAN results for Years 7 and 9 indicate that many of our students are achieving at or above the national minimum level. VALID results are also well above state averages. Our school has an impressive history of awards which include Director General's Award for Girls Education, Technology Education and Student Engagement and Retention, NSW Order of Australia Certificates of Commendation, Pierre de Coubertin Awards for sport and the Victor Chang Awards for Science. The school has been acknowledged as an Apple Distinguished Program since 2012 for innovation, leadership and educational excellence. This is a very prestigious Award and is highly valued. In 2015 our school was named Winner of Innovative Schools. The school has been named as one of the eight NSW Department of Education STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) Action Schools. Our school has a P & C Association which offers strong community support and participate in school-based decisions.
