Taree High School

Taree High School is a comprehensive co-educational high school which caters for students from Years 7 to 12. It seeks to provide flexible educational programs which address the needs of all students and aims to deliver these programs in a safe and friendly learning environment. The school is part of the Connected Communities Strategy which focuses on improving educational outcomes for Aboriginal students and families. The school recognises, respects and celebrates the local Biripi Nation as the traditional custodians of the land and immerses the school in the culture and language of the Biripi Nation. Gathang Language and Culture is embedded into the curriculum and supported by local Elders, community and Aboriginal staff. The school has a tradition of achievement in academic, sporting and artistic pursuits and has a culture which recognises and celebrates the successes of its students. Taree High School's curriculum and welfare structures are designed to promote self reliance and encourage students to take responsibility for their actions and their learning. There is a well developed welfare network which supports students and which emphasises a general concern for their growth and their quality of life. The school is well equipped with a number of specialist facilities and liaises extensively with local primary schools, the business community, Universities, Government and Non Government agencies and NSW TAFE Taree.
