Broken Hill High School
Broken Hill High School (established 1920) is a comprehensive school with an enrolment of approximately 661 (18% Indigenous) students. It has a reputation for academic achievement. It is a school that has a wide variety of educational programs catering for a diverse range of student abilities and interests. The school receives significant Equity Funding to support programs for students from low socio-economic backgrounds and students with disabilities. The school is proud of its comprehensive and supportive welfare structures and its links with the local community. The school is strongly supported by the 'Golden Oldies', an ex-student body consisting of those who attended the school prior to the mid 1950s. At Broken Hill High School we aim to ensure that students are provided with a quality education in a caring and pleasant environment. Considerable effort is expended in ensuring the school grounds are well presented but our focal point remains quality teaching and quality learning supported through flexible organization and excellent student welfare programs. The school has a strong Vocational Education program and is developing closer ties with Broken Hill TAFE and Willyama High School to further develop curriculum options. Our students are aware of our school motto, 'No Reward Without Effort'. The core values of the school are: Be Responsible, Be Respectful and Be Cooperative.
