The school has an enrolment of 318 students, including 15% identifying as Aboriginal and 64% coming from a Language Background other than English. The schools vision of nurturing confident, capable, resilient students who are inquisitive about the world and learn with meaning and purpose underpins the strategic directions of the school and commitment to our students and our community. This vision is supported by an active and engaged P&C who work in collaboration with the school to support the needs of all students. In 2018, Glebe Public School was publicly acknowledged and recognised by the Deputy Secretary due to our ‘focus on data analysis, explicit teaching practices and tailored student support that has positioned the school as one of the most substantially improved schools in the state’. The school has a positive reputation in the community as being a provider of high quality inclusive educational practices that cater for the academic and wellbeing needs of all students and the support of the school community and the larger community enhances the educational outcomes of the school. The staff at Glebe Public School is an actively involved and dedicated team, committed to supporting individual learning needs and providing a range of innovative, evidence based teaching practices. High expectations drive improvements in student outcomes with an embedded focus on supporting and promoting the social, creative, academic and wellbeing needs of all students and ensure that every student is known, valued and cared for. Students are given every opportunity to develop their talents in academic, artistic, cultural and sporting domains in order to maximise their potential and enable them to be motivated, engaged and reflective learners. The school provides opportunities for all students to participate in enrichment activities which include chess, art, craft, technology, sport, dance and French.
