Eastwood Public School

Eastwood Public School is a large primary school set on a small school site in suburban Eastwood. The school population is approximately 810, with over 90% of students from language backgrounds other than English. Through a commitment to excellence, the school aims to develop students to become outstanding citizens by providing a safe, nurturing and stimulating learning environment. The school fosters a love of learning, development of self-worth, appreciation of cultural diversity and a desire to give service to others. The values of respect, responsibility and resilience are strongly emphasised. Eastwood Public School enjoys a strong partnership with the community. A supportive parent body works with the school staff for the benefit of the students and the school as a whole. Apart from the delivery of a rigorous academic curriculum that facilitates outstanding levels of student achievement in academic, sporting and performing arts, the school provides an extensive range of extra-curricular activities. As well as employing a specialist music teacher, the school, in collaboration with the P&C, runs an outstanding instrumental program which, includes two bands and two strings groups. Students involved in the school instrumental program frequently perform at such prestigious venues as the Sydney Opera House and the Sydney Town Hall. There are two Community Language progams operating across the school run by two full time Mandarin community language teachers and a full time Korean community language teacher. Eastwood Public School recognises the increasing speed of change, particulary in regard to the impact of technology on learning and life opportunities. As a result the school is focusing on improving levels of student engagement in learning through the effective use of technology as a learning tool.  The school motto is Each Can Serve.
