Arncliffe Public School serves a diverse community south of the Cooks River in Sydney. Our aim as a school is to provide a diverse education in a safe, supportive environment that promotes self-discipline, motivation and excellence in learning. We believe in providing quality educational programs leading to positive outcomes for all students. From Kindergarten to Year 6, students participate in activities that build on solid Literacy and Numeracy foundations in the early years to becoming self directed learners, able to identify issues, pose questions, synthesise ideas and develop solutions to problems. As well as the core academic program we provide support for the spiritual, moral, aesthetic and cultural development of all students. Arncliffe PS is characterised by: a caring, competent and committed staff; strong community involvement and support; emphasis on basic skills and quality teaching; a highly regarded public speaking program; a languages program which ensures all students learn a second language and high expectations of all students. We cater to the needs of the students through our gifted and talented programs; ESL (English as a second language) programs; reading recovery program; individual education plans for students with special learning needs; comprehensive debating program; junior and senior choir; performing arts program; participation in representative sport; K-6 Learn to Swim program; languages program; specialised drama program as well as a comprehensive music program which features a school Band, Training Band, String and Percussion group and the Junior Music Group; Maths Olympiad program and a comprehensive transition to school program for Kindergarten students and Year 6 students moving to secondary school. Our integrated units of work are closely linked to the NSW Department of Education and Training Connected Outcomes units with a strong emphasis on embedding Information Communication Technology. Student welfare is an integral part of our school's curriculum. Our school has a firm and fair discipline policy and it is supported through our successful Peer Support program, our Life Education program and our active Student Representative Council. The strong commitment of students, teachers and parents towards our school programs has been essential in maintaining a happy, safe and productive learning environment.
