Established in 1891, the school currently serves approximately 190 students, with 7% identifying as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander. The school’s motto, "Striving for Success," is fundamental to its educational mission and is consistently upheld across the entire school community. Canowindra Public School fosters a strong learning culture that prioritises the essentials of Literacy and Numeracy, integrating both traditional and contemporary pedagogical approaches. The school benefits from an active and supportive Parents and Citizens Association as well as a Student Representative Council, both of which contribute to a vibrant school community. Additionally, the school has implemented a Peer Support Program that has positively impacted students for over 25 years and has actively engaged in the Positive Behaviour for Learning framework as a foundational welfare initiative. Extracurricular activities, including sporting events and cultural programs, play a significant role in the school's offerings, complemented by a sustainable kitchen garden precinct that further enriches student experiences.
