Warrumbungle National Park Environmental Education Centre

The Warrumbungle Environmental Education Centre is located amongst the spectacular volcanic mountains of the Warrumbungle Range in the central west of NSW. The WEEC attracts students from across the state and provides nature based lessons to all ages. The largest proportion are from the local surrounding rural district.Close to many walking trails of varying grades,students are able to experience close encounters with kangaroos, emus and goannas. Learning from nature and place-based teaching methodology are combined to deliver hands on, fun and engaging lessons with a large emphasis on sustainability. Delivery methods include using adventure, creative play, animals, special places, tracking skills and treasure hunts with maps. Subjects covered include but are not limited to archaeology, paleaontology geology, biology and ecology.The centre has a close relationship with local Aboriginal communities and this relationship is also reflected in the teaching and learning that occurs at the centre.
