Cascade Environmental Education Centre

Cascades Environmental Centre offers residential and one day programs supporting school curriculum in Environmental Education and all Key Learning Areas. The centre is located in the village of Cascade, 22 kilometres from Dorrigo. We also conduct day programs at a variety of venues between Dorrigo and the coast. Our mission is to develop eco-citizens that are knowledgeable about their place in and effect on the environment and are empowered to make true, positive environmental change. Cascade has no permanent students enrolled, but works with about 6000 students over year. We achieve our mission by providing a dynamic base of programs that are developed in consultation with our client schools to best meet their needs. The school plays an important part in the community by developing partnerships with a range of environmental stakeholders for the benefit of students within the North Coast Region. Some of these partners include various local councils, Catchment Management Authority, Solitary Island Marine Park Authority, NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service, Western Australian Water Corporation and Australian Association for Environmental Education.

Cooler Classrooms Program

The NSW Government is committed to providing students with healthy and comfortable learning environments. That’s why we’ve invested a record $500 million to provide a sustainable air conditioning program for NSW schools.

To ensure the NSW Government responds to the needs of students in the hottest parts of the State, we will provide air conditioning in classrooms and libraries at schools that experience a mean maximum January temperature of 30°C and above.

School Infrastructure NSW is pleased to advise that your school’s application for funding as part of the Cooler Classrooms Program has been successful. School Infrastructure NSW will be in contact to organise a date for the due diligence team to visit your school. Congratulations on your successful application. We look forward to working with you to provide better learning environments to improve educational outcomes.

Applications for the second round of funding are now closed.
