Lucas Gardens School
Lucas Gardens School provides a safe and inclusive quality learning environment that empowers students to achieve their personal best through the delivery of exceptional educational programs. The school caters for students K-12 with intellectual impairments, physical disabilities, sensory impairments and complex medical conditions. The school operates six classes on the temporary Lakemba site whilst the new state of the art school is built on the substantive Canada Bay site and retains two places for part-time enrolment for students in respite care at the Summer Hill Respite Centre. The students at Lucas Gardens School come from a diverse range of backgrounds. Lucas Gardens School enjoys strong community support from local, national and international service organisations, resulting in enhanced resources, the development of specialised learning environments and the employment of school based Therapy Staff. Physiotherapy and Speech Pathology services are available through the school's own Therapy Staff, as well as by referral to ADHC and the Cerebral Palsy Alliance. Lucas Gardens School provides quality teaching and learning programs and Personalised Learning and Support Plans to assist students to achieve individual goals and to assist students to be independent and expand their experiences beyond the walls of the classroom. Technology is also used as a tool to develop 21st century learners.
