The Crescent School

The Crescent School caters for students with intellectual disabilities in the four to twenty years age group. Our school community encompasses a wide geographical area centred on Goulburn including outlying areas such as Crookwell, Exeter, Lake Bathurst and Gunning. The School provides quality educational programs in a supportive, stimulating and caring environment to enable all students to have the opportunity to reach their full potential. The enjoyment, achievement and student's success are outcomes of a varied and comprehensive education program. As part of the process, individual education plans are developed in consultation with parents and support staff. The individual education plans provide a focus for learning programs. The experience provided within the school environment and outside within the local community reinforces students' skills in a realistic setting. Life skills are an important facet of the total education program at The Crescent School.

Demountables

Upgrade: The Crescent School completed project

The Crescent School in Goulburn provides for the learning of students from K-12 with intellectual/physical disabilities, behaviour difficulties and Autism. The school caters for students aged between 4 and 18 with a range of disabilities including those with an intellectual disability in the moderate to severe range, students with autism and they also have a multi categorical class that caters for students with additional behavioural needs.

LED Upgrade

The $157.8 million LED Lighting Upgrade Program will install new LED lights in up to 1,000 public schools across NSW. This means reduced operating costs for schools and improved learning environments and outcomes for our students.

Maintenance

To ensure the safety, reliability and longevity of our schools, every school across NSW receives maintenance. The Department undertakes preventative and routine maintenance every year, and repairs as needed. The Department also reviews the planned maintenance program for each school every year and reviews those items that are predicted to require work to help prolong the life of the school buildings and facilities.

Demountables

Demountables have been part of the NSW education system for many decades and will continue to be used across the state. Demountable classrooms are modern, air-conditioned rooms that provide students and teaching staff with excellent quality facilities. The learning spaces have the same range of technology that is available in permanent spaces. We review school accommodation needs each year, looking at changing enrolment patterns and other factors to prepare for the upcoming school year. This helps to identify schools that need new demountables and schools where they can removed. Most demountable movement takes place between October and February and we report our annual demountable statistics each April. Additional demountable installations can occur outside this window to support capital works and maintenance projects in schools or emergency responses to natural disasters.
