Lawrence Hargrave School
Lawrence Hargrave is a school for special purposes catering for up to 63 secondary students who have an emotional disturbance, behaviour difficulty and a mild intellectual disability. The school has nine classes with up to 7 students in each class. Specialist teachers are employed to deliver curriculum in the areas of Personal Development, Health & Physical Education, Creative and Practical Arts and Technical and Applied Sciences. Curriculum is provided to students at a secondary level with students achieving life skills or mainstream accreditation. Lawrence Hargrave has a strong commitment to improving student learning outcomes through literacy, numeracy, quality teaching, student engagement and vocational education. The school focuses on a 'case management' approach to wellbeing and learning. Personalised learning plans are developed in collaboration with parents and carers, teachers, community and government agencies to ensure ongoing improvement in student achievement in all aspects of school life. Lawrence Hargrave School is a well-resourced facility committed to offering a broad range of opportunities and access to a variety of programs both in and out of school in order to best prepare our students for post-school options.
