Caldera School

Caldera SSP is a Specific Purpose school designed for students Years 7 to12 who display significant challenging behaviour. The school is a medium to long term program, which aims to support students' through to the completion of year 12 or transition into the workforce and wider community. The school is an alternative New South Wales Department of Education facility located in Tweed Heads South that has been created to meet the needs of students whose behaviour or emotional state has prevented them from being maintained in a regular school setting. In 2008, Caldera School commenced providing support to the Kamala, Child and Adolescent In-Patient Unit. Kamala is an acute mental health inpatient facility within the Richmond Mental Health Campus, co-located with the Lismore Base Hospital. The unit is for short term placements and provides diagnostic assessments and therapeutic programs for children and adolescents (12-17 yrs) with severe and/ or complex mental health needs.
