Wangee Park School

Wangee Park School is located in the inner western suburb of Campsie. The school has recently relocated to a purpose built site in Campsie from Lakemba. The new site has provided students with a leaning environment that specifically caters for their varied needs. With the relocation the school has 3 additional classes and now caters for a diverse student cohort, who have a range of disabilities. The school provides personalised learning programs for up to 49 students, from kindergarten to year 12, who have a severe intellectual disabilities, moderate intellectual disability, physical disabilities and Autism. Catering for diverse learning styles and specific medical needs. The school has strong supportive links with both the parents and the wider community. Strong partnerships with families are valued and utilised. The school provides high quality educational programs to ensure every student achieves to their potential.

Demountables

New school through relocation: Wangee Park School completed project

The objective of the project was to construct a new School for Specific Purpose (SSP) that would provide a specialised educational setting for students with high support needs in the Inner West of Sydney. The SSP environment caters for a range of students with moderate to severe disabilities and all associated staffing and specialist needs.

LED Upgrade

The $157.8 million LED Lighting Upgrade Program will install new LED lights in up to 1,000 public schools across NSW. This means reduced operating costs for schools and improved learning environments and outcomes for our students.

Maintenance

To ensure the safety, reliability and longevity of our schools, every school across NSW receives maintenance. The Department undertakes preventative and routine maintenance every year, and repairs as needed. The Department also reviews the planned maintenance program for each school every year and reviews those items that are predicted to require work to help prolong the life of the school buildings and facilities.

Demountables

Demountables have been part of the NSW education system for many decades and will continue to be used across the state. Demountable classrooms are modern, air-conditioned rooms that provide students and teaching staff with excellent quality facilities. The learning spaces have the same range of technology that is available in permanent spaces. We review school accommodation needs each year, looking at changing enrolment patterns and other factors to prepare for the upcoming school year. This helps to identify schools that need new demountables and schools where they can removed. Most demountable movement takes place between October and February and we report our annual demountable statistics each April. Additional demountable installations can occur outside this window to support capital works and maintenance projects in schools or emergency responses to natural disasters.
