Broderick Gillawarna School
Our school is located at Revesby in south western Sydney. Most students travel to school by special transport provided by the government. Our school caters for students aged 4 years to 18 years with moderate to severe intellectual disabilities. Some students also have autism and physical disabilities. Broderick Gillawarna School works together to provide a comprehensive personalised education to teach students academic, communication, mobility, living skills, leisure and vocational skills. The programs are designed to enable students to reach their potential and lead a fulfilling life as members of the community. Therapy enhances the tailoring of the student's program to their needs. Personalised Learning Programs are decided upon at a team meeting including parents, teacher and school counsellor after a thorough assessment by parents and the Principal. Key learning areas are all taught and priorities are determined to address the whole-of-life needs and support needed to achieve this. The school has particular emphasis on technology, augmentative communication, community access, health and physical exercise.
