St George School
St George School is a special school for students with severe physical and multiple disabilities from preschool to year 12. The school is located in the Sydney Region of NSW Department of Education and Training on a shared site with Moorefield Girls' HS, James Cook Boys' Technology HS and St George TAFE. The school delivers a curriculum that is appropriate to the needs of students with severe and multiple disabilities within the Board of Studies Key Learning Areas and syllabus framework. Student learning outcomes are identified and addressed through the development and implementation of individualised learning plans and supported by a number of whole-school programs including communication, literacy, physical management, hydrotherapy, health care and personal care. The individualised plan is developed through a collaborative process involving teachers, parents, school learning support officers, therapists and other personnel as required. A thematic approach is used as a framework for addressing individual student learning outcomes and the delivery of curriculum. The Sydney Region placement panel coordinates the referral and offer of placement into the school. The school has strong links with local community groups including Rockdale Council, Kogarah Council, St George Leagues Club, Masonicare, St George Children with Disabilities Fund and the Lions Club.
