Stewart House School

Stewart House School is a residential school located opposite the beach at South Curl Curl in Northern Sydney. A 12-day visit is provided for 90 students each fortnight or 1800 students per year, from schools in NSW and the ACT as recommended by School Principals. School programs focus on the improvement of social and emotional skills, with skill development and relaxation provided in art and craft activities and visits to the major tourist sites in Sydney. An Aboriginal Education Officer supports Aboriginal students attending, with Indigenous and Environmental Education a focus of the program. As part of their stay children are encouraged to further develop their independence, self-esteem and sense of self-responsibility with a preventative dental health program and the promotion of a healthy lifestyle. This includes healthy eating, good hygiene and an active sports program. Recreation supervisors provide after-school recreational and leisure activities for students by building on skills taught during the day. Health staff organise dental, optometric and auditory screening for all students with minor medical treatment provided.
