Beverley Park School
Beverley Park School delivers quality educational programs for students, from Kindergarten to Year 12, with a moderate or severe intellectual disability. Most students have additional or multiple disabilities which may include physical disabilities, sensory impairment, autism and complex needs. The school has fifty six students across nine classes. Students are enrolled after a successful referral is made to the regional placement panel. Students learn to engage in a supportive learning environment assisted by innovative technology and quality teaching practices. Beverley Park School works collaboratively with parents to provide personalised learning and support programs which focus on student achievement in academic, communication, mobility, leisure and social skills. The K - 6 curriculum and 7 - 12 Life Skills curriculum are implemented. Students work towards the Higher School Certificate. We promote high expectations for our students. Beverley Park School offers learning opportunities through quality programs such as Hydrotherapy, Conductive Education, Environmental Education, Community Access and Integration. Personalised programs promote academic skills as well as building communication, social, mobility, living and leisure skills to enable our students to lead fulfilling lives. The school’s visual arts program has provided opportunities for our students to explore and develop skills and interests in art. Our students’ art has been displayed at venues across the region and at a school visual arts exhibition. Awards have been achieved through various local and state competitions. Our students become valued members of the community through programs that foster positive values, attitudes and behaviours such as the Positive Behaviour for Learning program and social skills programs. Student leadership is fostered through peer support with local High Schools students, a Student Voice Day, acknowledgement of student leaders in Year 12 and through the Rotary Youth Excellence Awards. Our school is committed to strengthening partnerships with families and the wider community; we support regular contact with families; encourage input from families through collaborative planning of Personalised Learning and Support Plans and facilitate the Triple P Stepping Stones program. The school maintains strong links with external support agencies. The staff at Beverley Park School is committed to the provision of quality teaching and learning for our students. Each class has a Teacher and a School Learning Support Officer to support student learning programs and support needs. The school facilities include well equipped classrooms with Interactive Whiteboards, a multi-sensory room, hydrotherapy pool, connected classroom and library, student cooking room and functional outdoor play areas The school community is very supportive of the school and its initiatives.
