Camden Park Environmental Education Centre

Camden Park EEC is a one-teacher centre situated on the Department of Primary Industries' 1600ha research property, the Elizabeth Macarthur Agricultural Institute. On-site programs utilize the features of the property extensively, including Belgenny Farm, Australia's oldest set of farm buildings. The centre is also involved in an extensive list of in-school programs, regional initiatives and off-site excursions. The purpose of the Centre is to provide field study activities to support school programs, to promote environmental education in schools and to support schools in the implementation of the Environmental Education Policy. The former is achieved by working with teachers to develop syllabus-relevant, challenging fieldwork designed to enhance classroom learning. The latter is achieved by working with communities in their schools, assisting them in the conduct of environmental audits and the development of their School Environmental Management plan. The Centre supports school-based initiatives related to environmental education such as the sustainable schools committee and the development of School Environmental Management Plans.
