Cromehurst School

Cromehurst School provides a range of specific programs for students with moderate to severe intellectual disabilities. Our mission is to develop student independence, to provide educational programs which successfully extend academic skills, to teach with a high degree of innovation, to empower our students by increasing their communication skills and to work closely with parents and stakeholders at all times. Individual education and transition plans form the basis of the school's program. These are conducted within the frameworks of the key learning areas. The school places great importance on providing integration opportunities for all students at all levels of their development. Our successful Willoughby Integration Program has received the Director General's School Achievement Award and has now been successfully run for well over twenty years and two years ago we commenced a similar program for our youngest students at Killara Public School. The preparation of students transitioning into their next environment is a high priority. Programs such as travel training and work experience play an important role in preparing students to be valuable and valued members of their community once they have completed their schooling.
