Ashtonfield Public School

Ashtonfield Public School, opened in 2007 and is situated in the lower Hunter Valley.    The school is held in high regard by its local community with an interested and active parent body working hard to support the school by providing opportunities for all students. Delivering a balanced curriculum with a clear focus on the academics, the arts and sport, the school looks forward to continuing a long tradition of quality education. The school is working hard to embrace the best approaches in teaching and learning and is committed to every child reaching their full potential.    An enhanced state-wide model of school financing enhance school programs including; 'Creative Critters' transition to school program, Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Program, music programs including band and choir, Science Technology Engineering & Mathematics (STEM) programs K-6,  increased  time for staff to support student wellbeing initiatives, opportunities for our Aboriginal students and EALD students to have enhanced academic support, and additional support learning officer (SLSO) time. We cover the six Key Learning Areas and incorporate Japanese as our second language. Students are encouraged to participate in a wide range of activities including sports, choir, band, art club, drama, non-competitive games, debating, public speaking, dance and concert performances both within the curriculum, and as extra-curricular activities. Excursions, visiting speakers, performances and the camping programs are designed to develop student understanding, socialisation and team work skills. Student leadership and representation are valued aspects of our school and help to support students within the positive school environment. Our students have been very successful in representing at all levels in a variety of academic fields, sports and dance.
