Harrington Park Public School

Harrington Park Public School began operating in 2002. The school has more than 780 students and is situated on the south west fringe of Sydney. A healthy partnership with the community exists and we have an active and effective Parents and Citizens Association. We have a strong commitment to academic, cultural and sporting success. Recently Harrington Park has developed a strong focus on Environmental Education, and our students are developing a healthy respect for the natural heritage of our surrounding area. Our school vision is 'A caring school community focussing on personal excellence for all by setting high expectations and a commitment to individual students'. This vision was developed by the community as a whole.The essence of our school is reflected in our motto: CARE (for others) BELIEVE (in yourself) SUCCEED (through effort). New families to the school continue to remark on the warmth, care and welcome they feel as they join our school community, and importantly they notice our clear commitment to excellence for all. We all continue to work hard for this to happen as we strive to make a good school even better.

Maintenance

To ensure the safety, reliability and longevity of our schools, every school across NSW receives maintenance. The Department undertakes preventative and routine maintenance every year, and repairs as needed. The Department also reviews the planned maintenance program for each school every year and reviews those items that are predicted to require work to help prolong the life of the school buildings and facilities.

Demountables

Demountables have been part of the NSW education system for many decades and will continue to be used across the state. Demountable classrooms are modern, air-conditioned rooms that provide students and teaching staff with excellent quality facilities. The learning spaces have the same range of technology that is available in permanent spaces. We review school accommodation needs each year, looking at changing enrolment patterns and other factors to prepare for the upcoming school year. This helps to identify schools that need new demountables and schools where they can removed. Most demountable movement takes place between October and February and we report our annual demountable statistics each April. Additional demountable installations can occur outside this window to support capital works and maintenance projects in schools or emergency responses to natural disasters.
