Kearns Public School is a proud school where a sense of belonging, a spirit of perseverance, and a willingness to take on challenges underpins the ethos of our community. As a small school, we are able to provide personalised attention within a culture of close student bonds and strong community links. At Kearns Public School we endeavour to help children feel safe, respected and empowered to enjoy the experience of life-long learning. Each child's needs are met through their participation in programs designed to maximise their academic, creative and sporting potential. To ensure their ongoing development, staff purposefully and cooperatively engage in professional learning experiences which transfer into dynamic teaching and learning programs in all classrooms. The school's active Learning Support Team ensures that the individual and group needs of students are responded to and monitored within a climate of consultative teamwork. The school has achieved success in the areas of sport and public speaking and continues to provide a diversity of opportunities for all students to take part in extra-curricular activities that will lead to their growth as well-rounded and successful young adults.

Demountables

New public preschool: New public preschool at Kearns Public School

The NSW Government's 2023-24 Budget is delivering a record $8.8 billion for new and upgraded schools. This targeted investment in growing communities will ensure working families get access to a world class public education. As part of the plan to rebuild essential services, the NSW Government has invested $769 million to deliver 100 new public preschools, including building a new preschool at every new government primary school in NSW, to boost access to preschool across the state. The location of the public preschools have been selected based on careful evaluation and selection criteria with considerations to educational need and demand, how children grow and learn, infrastructure feasibility, and insights gained through consultation. Early planning is underway to consider the needs of the local area now and into the future to ensure the right preschool is designed for the community. Consultants have been engaged and site due diligence activities are underway. We will share information throughout this project and update this dedicated project page to keep everyone informed about the progress we are making. Maintenance

To ensure the safety, reliability and longevity of our schools, every school across NSW receives maintenance. The Department undertakes preventative and routine maintenance every year, and repairs as needed. The Department also reviews the planned maintenance program for each school every year and reviews those items that are predicted to require work to help prolong the life of the school buildings and facilities.

Demountables

Demountables have been part of the NSW education system for many decades and will continue to be used across the state. Demountable classrooms are modern, air-conditioned rooms that provide students and teaching staff with excellent quality facilities. The learning spaces have the same range of technology that is available in permanent spaces. We review school accommodation needs each year, looking at changing enrolment patterns and other factors to prepare for the upcoming school year. This helps to identify schools that need new demountables and schools where they can removed. Most demountable movement takes place between October and February and we report our annual demountable statistics each April. Additional demountable installations can occur outside this window to support capital works and maintenance projects in schools or emergency responses to natural disasters.
