Sunshine Bay Public School

Approximately 390 students learn in a pleasant, well-resourced environment that aims to maximise each child's academic, physical, social, cultural and moral needs. A strong discipline system supported by a committed support team, ensures students learn in a happy and safe environment. Reward and acknowledgement practices help to motivate and inspire our children. Students undertake literacy and numeracy programs based on their developmental level as opposed to the traditional age/grade method. Strong support for children experiencing a range of difficulties is provided via an early student support program, a support teacher and a learning support coordinator. A stringed instrument band caters for musically-inclined students and a range of extra- curricular opportunities, including a comprehensive excursion program, helps to enhance the primary experience. Our staff, supported by an active P and C, are experienced, dedicated and continually examine better ways of achieving outcomes for our children. In addition to literacy and numeracy, quality teaching in the classroom and developing technology to aid learning continue to be priorities.
