Thomas Acres Public School

Thomas Acres Public school has an enrolment of 530 students. There are twenty one mainstream classes and three support classes. 24% of students are from a Non English Speaking Background and approximately 12% are from an Aborginal background. It draws its students from the suburbs of Ambarvale, Rosemeadow and Glen Alpine. The school has a balance of experienced and early career teachers who work collaboratively in stage teams. Thomas Acres Public School has a strong focus on core academic programs as well as student wellbeing and engagement. We seek to provide each student with the opportunity to grow and develop to his or her full potential in a caring , nurturing and educationally stimulating environment.

Demountables

New public preschool,100 new public preschools: Thomas Acres Public Preschool

As part of the plan to rebuild public education, the NSW Government is investing $769 million to deliver 100 new public preschools, co-located with public primary schools in NSW, to boost access to public preschool across the state. This is the largest investment in public preschools in NSW history, helping more children access a preschool program before starting school. Work is underway to deliver a new public preschool at Thomas Acres Public School. The new public preschool will provide a safe and engaging environment for preschool children. It will feature specially designed rooms and a quality outdoor play area, accommodating up to 60 children per day.

Maintenance

To ensure the safety, reliability and longevity of our schools, every school across NSW receives maintenance. The Department undertakes preventative and routine maintenance every year, and repairs as needed. The Department also reviews the planned maintenance program for each school every year and reviews those items that are predicted to require work to help prolong the life of the school buildings and facilities.

Demountables

Demountables have been part of the NSW education system for many decades and will continue to be used across the state. Demountable classrooms are modern, air-conditioned rooms that provide students and teaching staff with excellent quality facilities. The learning spaces have the same range of technology that is available in permanent spaces. We review school accommodation needs each year, looking at changing enrolment patterns and other factors to prepare for the upcoming school year. This helps to identify schools that need new demountables and schools where they can removed. Most demountable movement takes place between October and February and we report our annual demountable statistics each April. Additional demountable installations can occur outside this window to support capital works and maintenance projects in schools or emergency responses to natural disasters.
