St Clair Public School
St Clair Public School is located in Sydney's western suburbs. The air-conditioned brick classrooms are set in spacious and attractive grounds. There are 35% students from language backgrounds other than English. The St Clair community represents a broad range of socio-economic levels. The caring, dedicated and experienced teaching staff provide comprehensive educational programs from Kindergarten to Year 6 in a secure and nurturing environment which caters for the individual needs of children and encourages excellence. We offer a wide-ranging curriculum in literacy, numeracy, technology, creative arts, science, social and environmental skills, physical education and fitness. The school focus is on improving student learning outcomes by providing quality teaching and learning experiences and encouraging students to seek knowledge, develop their skills and form attitudes to enhance their quality of life. Quality programs give all students the opportunity to enrich their learning and succeed at the highest level through debating, public speaking, verse speaking, choir, cooking, gardening, creative arts, dance and various sports. Students are engaged in real-life learning through the use of a range of resources and teaching strategies including Interactive whiteboards, individual XO laptops, computers, cameras, fully equipped kitchen and large school vegetable garden. An added resource is the support unit which caters for students with intellectual disabilities and students with autism. Emphasis is placed on the integration of students with disabilities and the school's inclusive education practices encourage understanding and compassion. The school enjoys a great deal of community support and parents are encouraged to enter into a partnership with the school staff based on shared responsibility and mutual respect. The school aims to achieve effective learning and good discipline in a productive and harmonious environment, where children understand school expectations and take responsibility for their own behaviour. We are part of the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Program and students take part in cooking and gardening lessons that are integrated into the whole school curriculum.
