Ruse Public School provides a safe and supportive environment where students are nurtured, valued and encouraged to achieve their personal best. Our highly qualified, dedicated and caring staff provide a range of excellent educational programs that meet the academic, cultural, physical, emotional and social needs of students. A comprehensive curriculum complements our core values and is characterised by a strong focus in literacy and numeracy. Interactive whiteboard technology in all classrooms, banks of computers, iPads and a computer laboratory supplement and enhance innovative teaching and learning programs. We enjoy modern, air-conditioned classrooms and an attractive well maintained playground. Excursions, incursions, school camps, public speaking, debating, sporting clinics, dance and jump rope groups, Primary School Sporting Association (PSSA) competitions, swimming lessons and participation in the University of NSW International Competitions and Assessments for Schools are some of the optional activities offered. Proactive welfare programs provide an inclusive environment and focus on building respect, resilience and social responsibility along with the desire to excel. Students are celebrated as safe, respectful learners with awards for merit and citizenship. The opportunity for students to have a voice in decision making takes place through our student representative council, which includes students from Year 2 to Year 6. Parents, community members and our local schools play a vital role in the life of the school. These strong partnerships contribute to the outstanding quality of education.

New public preschool: Ruse Public Preschool

As part of the plan to rebuild public education, the NSW Government is investing $769 million to deliver 100 new public preschools, including building public preschools at new government primary schools in NSW, to boost access to public preschool across the state. The 100 new public preschools will be co-located on public school sites, including new and redeveloped school sites, helping more children access a preschool program before starting school. Work is underway for a new public preschool at Ruse Public School. The proposed location of the preschool is situated on the Northeastern side of the school, with entrance from Junction Road. The new public preschool will provide a safe and engaging environment for preschool children. It will feature specially designed rooms and a quality outdoor play area. The construction of the preschool is expected to be completed in time for Day 1 Term 1 2027 to accommodate up to 40 children per day.

LED Upgrade

The $157.8 million LED Lighting Upgrade Program will install new LED lights in up to 1,000 public schools across NSW. This means reduced operating costs for schools and improved learning environments and outcomes for our students.

Maintenance

To ensure the safety, reliability and longevity of our schools, every school across NSW receives maintenance. The Department undertakes preventative and routine maintenance every year, and repairs as needed. The Department also reviews the planned maintenance program for each school every year and reviews those items that are predicted to require work to help prolong the life of the school buildings and facilities.

Demountables

Demountables have been part of the NSW education system for many decades and will continue to be used across the state. Demountable classrooms are modern, air-conditioned rooms that provide students and teaching staff with excellent quality facilities. The learning spaces have the same range of technology that is available in permanent spaces. We review school accommodation needs each year, looking at changing enrolment patterns and other factors to prepare for the upcoming school year. This helps to identify schools that need new demountables and schools where they can removed. Most demountable movement takes place between October and February and we report our annual demountable statistics each April. Additional demountable installations can occur outside this window to support capital works and maintenance projects in schools or emergency responses to natural disasters.
