Flinders Public School

Flinders PS is situated in a new housing area. Enrolments in the last few years have stabilised at about 550 students representing a variety of backgrounds and cultural groups. Flinders' core values are, 'care for yourself, care for each other, care for this place'. These values are reflected in respect for self, others, and the school, creating a safe, positive and supporting environment for all. Flinders achieves its aims through focusing on the whole child by providing a balanced approach to student welfare, academic programs, along with sporting and cultural opportunities that are inclusive and cater for a wide range of abilities. Gender equity is encouraged in the Junior and Year 5 Choirs and the dance troupe who perform at a number of events, both school and community, throughout the year. Sporting events encourage both boys and girls to be active participants, with a number of students representing at state level and one at national level. Flinders places a strong emphasis on supporting students to improve their learning outcomes and demonstrates strong growth in students achievements in national tests. The forging of links with the community is positively encouraged.
