At Mount Brown Public School our dedicated and experienced teachers maintain high expectations in challenging and inspiring all of our students. Through our strong focus on literacy and numeracy programs our students develop skills that equip them as life-long learners. As a member of the Dapto Learning Community we have established valuable partnerships with local primary and secondary schools. These partnerships ensure a seamless transition from primary to secondary education. Students' educational experiences are enriched through participation in extra-curricular activities such as: Wakikirri, School Band performances, Southern Stars, Southern Illawarra Music Festival, instrumental performances, public speaking and debating. Sporting ability is catered for through our interschool sports competitions, success in statewide sporting knockouts and the opportunity to represent the Region in a wide variety of sports. Environmental programs foster social responsibility on a local and global level in our students. Mount Brown has won numerous awards for its outstanding environmental education initiatives and programs. A strong student welfare program, designed to create a safe and engaging learning environment for all students and our community features as a strong focus for our highly inclusive school.

Maintenance

To ensure the safety, reliability and longevity of our schools, every school across NSW receives maintenance. The Department undertakes preventative and routine maintenance every year, and repairs as needed. The Department also reviews the planned maintenance program for each school every year and reviews those items that are predicted to require work to help prolong the life of the school buildings and facilities.

Demountables

Demountables have been part of the NSW education system for many decades and will continue to be used across the state. Demountable classrooms are modern, air-conditioned rooms that provide students and teaching staff with excellent quality facilities. The learning spaces have the same range of technology that is available in permanent spaces. We review school accommodation needs each year, looking at changing enrolment patterns and other factors to prepare for the upcoming school year. This helps to identify schools that need new demountables and schools where they can removed. Most demountable movement takes place between October and February and we report our annual demountable statistics each April. Additional demountable installations can occur outside this window to support capital works and maintenance projects in schools or emergency responses to natural disasters.
