Merewether Heights Public School
The mission of the school is to provide 'Exceptional learning opportunities for all in a caring environment'. This statement encapsulates all that we work for. We strive for each child to achieve their individual best, understanding that their social and emotional needs must be recognised and catered for if this goal is to be achieved. Through continuous and rigorous self examination and the evaluation of student data in many forms the school monitors the progress of all the students. As a result of this the school continues to achieve outstanding results in literacy and numeracy, provides quality educational experiences in all key learning areas and continues to build on its diverse sports' program. The school's dance groups, concert band, drama class and talented artists' class enrich the learning opportunities provided for the children. One of the real strengths of the school is the support it receives from the parents and the community. They are actively involved in supporting the children in classrooms, the development and implementation of school plans and in decision making. This is an extremely valuable partnership and one that will continue to be fostered and built upon.
We recognise the Ongoing Custodians of the lands and waterways where we work and live. We pay respect to Elders past and present as ongoing teachers of knowledge, songlines and stories. We strive to ensure every Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander learner in NSW achieves their potential through education.
