Sherwood Grange Public School

Sherwood Grange Public School is a proud learning community. Quality teaching, student engagement and differentiation of the curriculum are the focus of every classroom. We provide well planned, stimulating learning experiences across the six Key Learning Areas that are designed to cater for individual needs and maximise learning outcomes. Excellence is promoted across all aspects of school life. Areas of strength for the school include systematic and explicit literacy and numeracy programs; our Kindergarten Preparation Program; excellence in public speaking; an integrated school values program; our school choir and dance group; links with local high schools that include gifted and talented programs and transition programs; and physical education/sports programs. We are situated in a quiet pocket of well-maintained suburban streets. Our facilities include air-conditioned classrooms, computer labs, electronic whiteboards, a well-resourced library, a new school hall and Before and After School Care on site. Our school grounds are spacious and well equipped. We have an oval, multi-purpose courts, fixed equipment, covered play areas and seating areas shaded by trees. Students, staff and parents follow our school motto of 'Strive to Improve'. Our students are expected to: wear full school uniform; accept and display our school values; adhere to the Core Rules for students in NSW Public Schools; and commit wholeheartedly to their learning so as to achieve their personal best. Our teachers are dedicated, hardworking professionals who: strive to meet the learning, social and emotional needs of every student; are concerned with the education and welfare of all students; plan, prepare, implement, assess and evaluate learning programs that cater for the needs of every student; provide a high quality, safe, supportive and engaging environment for their students; and set high expectations for student achievement. Our parents, caregivers and community volunteers: are integral to our learning community; have high expectations; run a proactive, supportive, hardworking P and C; and support our students and our school in a range of ways (e.g. fundraising, playgroup for preschool age children, classroom reading tutors, administration and library support, sports coaching). At Sherwood Grange Public School we promote and foster important social and community values that include: respect, tolerance, care, compassion, integrity, fairness, excellence and responsibility. Particular emphasis is placed on maintaining a warm, supportive, welcoming and harmonious school environment for all.
