Woonona East Public School
Woonona East Public School serves a coastal suburban community north of Wollongong and caters for 220 students. The three core values of respect, responsibility and resilience foster a secure environment where all children can learn with confidence and where additional needs are supported and talents fostered. The experienced teaching staff, supported by in-depth and ongoing professional learning, provide a balanced and engaging curriculum for students. Emphasis is placed upon the development of sound literacy and numeracy skills in combination with student health and well-being programs and experiences in the creative and performing arts including the school band, choir and public speaking programs. The school has a strong sporting tradition and initiatives in fitness and sport ensure that Woonona East is a health-promoting school. The development of students' technology skills is fostered via the modern computer laboratory, interactive whiteboards in all classrooms, iPad and Bring Your Own Device programs. A new hall, refurbishments to school facilities and landscaping of the grounds combine to create a spacious, attractive and functional environment for students. The school is strongly supported by an enthusiastic and informed parent body via the Parents and Citizens Association.
