Burraneer Bay Public School is a large school located in the Sutherland area. It has a welcoming and friendly school community with a dedicated and caring staff. The school has a reputation for excellence across a relevant and balanced curriculum. The school is committed to providing a caring and quality learning environment where all students are encouraged to strive for their personal best. The school is very proud of the vast range of programs it offers its students in the arts, sport and the important key learning areas of literacy and numeracy. Literacy and numeracy programs are supported by a Learning and Support Teacher and a teacher of English as a Second Language. The school has a strong emphasis on extra-curricular activities, especially in the performing arts and sport. Excellent opportunities exist for students in performing arts programs through the school band, choir, dance groups, public speaking and drama. Primary students are provided with the opportunity to join the highly successful training band and performing band. The senior primary choir, junior and primary choir perform regularly as do each of the school's dance groups. The school provides a diverse range of sporting activities offering high levels of student participation. Students participate in fair and enjoyable competition within the school and through representation in the Primary Schools Sports Association competitions, in safe and supportive environments. Burraneer Bay students take pride in all of their achievements. Students enjoy high levels of access to information, communication and interactive technologies. All classrooms have an interactive white board and wireless technology. The school's well resourced library and Science,Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEAM) Room have enough computers for all students to be able to access the school's network resources. The school provides a caring environment which is reflected in a school ethos that emphasizes a strong set of values that are integrated into all aspects of the school and wider community. Positive welfare programs are a feature of Burraneer Bay Public School and include Restorative Practices, Circle Time, K-6 Buddy Program and Peer Support. An active Student Representative Council gives students the opportunity to develop leadership and independence. The school has a very proud and supportive community and is well supported by an active Parents and Citizens' Association. Parents and carers volunteer to assist in numerous activities. With a Before and After School Care Centre on site the school community works together with the staff to ensure a safe and happy learning environment for all students.
