Wheeler Heights Public School
Wheeler Heights Public School is nestled in a stunning bushland setting in Collaroy Plateau, overlooking Narrabeen Lake. Our expansive grounds feature a well-maintained turfed oval, two versatile tennis and basketball courts, multiple fixed play areas, several undercover spaces and a dedicated natural environment play area specifically designed for our Kindergarten to Year 2 students. Our impressive sustainability garden and chicken coop are a source of pride for the whole community, promoting environmental awareness and hands-on learning for students across the school. At Wheeler Heights Public School, our dedicated and passionate staff collaborate to foster a culture of kindness and curiosity. Our expert teachers create rich and engaging learning experiences that inspire students to become confident, creative and resilient learners who eagerly embrace challenges. Through a culture of high expectations, we provide a diverse range of opportunities tailored to meet the unique needs of every student, including extension programs for those seeking advanced challenges and targeted support for learners who need additional assistance. Our High Potential and Gifted Education opportunities play a crucial role in nurturing the talents and abilities of advanced learners and ensuring they are appropriately challenged and engaged in their educational journey. We celebrate and value diversity as a source of strength and creativity, working closely with students and families to uncover and nurture individual passions. Student wellbeing sits at the heart of everything we do. Our whole-school approach to Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) creates a consistent, supportive environment where every student feels safe, known and valued. We offer structured wellbeing programs that build social and emotional skills alongside academic ones and we actively develop student voice and leadership through meaningful opportunities across the school. The result is a community where strong relationships between students, staff and families are not an aspiration, they are a daily reality. Our vibrant school community plays a vital role in enhancing the learning experience, whether through participation in events, sharing skills, or volunteering in classrooms. We are fortunate to be supported by an amazing Parent and Citizen group who are central to the community spirit that we are so proud of. We collaborate closely with schools across the Pittwater, The Beaches and The Forest networks, ensuring a broad and connected educational experience. Our school has a special relationship with the ANZAC Retirement Village. Residents from the village have supported our students in a variety of areas, from assisting with reading development to acting as a mentor to a gifted young historian. The school's performance groups have entertained the residents and we are extremely honoured that our students play a central role in special events and commemorations such as ANZAC Day and Remembrance Day. This collective effort strengthens students' connection to their education, broadens their opportunities and fosters a strong sense of belonging. Wheeler Heights Public School provides a rich array of extracurricular activities including sporting opportunities, multicultural speaking, external enrichment opportunities, band, dance, choir and various enrichment programs that complement and enhance the educational journey. The Wheeler Heights OOSH centre offers excellent before and after school care, along with an engaging vacation care program.
