Albert Park Public School

Albert Park Public School is an innovative and progressive school that delivers quality teaching programs in a nurturing small school setting. Albert Park Public School recognises that each child is an individual; that all children are creative; that all children can succeed. Therefore, Albert Park Public School respects the individual needs of children; fosters a caring and creative environment; and emphasises the social, emotional, physical and intellectual development of each child. There are currently 58 students enrolled at Albert Park. Enrollments are predominantly local and 33% are Indigenous students. The school has an Aboriginal Committee and representation on the AECG. Albert Park Public School has three permanent teachers, an Instructional Leader and a permanent Aboriginal Education Officer. Priorities as identified by surveys include continual focus on literacy and numeracy, technology and student welfare. As a result, additional staff includes two temporary teachers, a full time School Learning Support Officer, a School Chaplain and a part time Aboriginal School Learning Support Officer. The school prides itself on the delivery of quality, innovative teaching and learning programs. The main focus for Albert Park Public School is to provide to each and every child, access to a differentiated curriculum and increase student's engagement in learning. The school's emphasis on teaching the individual has consistently shown up in the growth of matched students in National and State testing. This growth is often well above state average. The school is nestled on a hillside, on the edge of town and boasts shaded spacious playgrounds, basketball courts, soccer field, cricket area, playground climbing equipment and sandpits. The school enjoys spacious double classrooms, all equipped with interactive whiteboards and individual technologies for each child. The school has a small but active P&C and an energetic Student Representative Council. Our school is part of the Rivers P-12 College with staff actively engaged in collegial meetings and cross campus professional development.
