Penrith South Public School

Penrith South Public School is a welcoming friendly school that has been delivering quality education to the local community for 60 years. We work closely with our community and encourage active participation in school activities and in making decisions about education. The school provides a well-rounded curriculum within a challenging and stimulating environment for children to achieve their personal best. We are active participants in the John Jamison and Kingswood Learning Communities allowing the school and its staff members to be innovative, collaborative and to strive for continuous improvement in teaching and learning. With a strong student wellbeing focus we offer many programs that support and develop social and leadership skills.  These skills are further enhanced through an effective peer support and Kindergarten buddy program which fosters lasting friendships across year groups. We have a clear and easy to understand anti-bullying policy that includes explicit teaching in recognising and dealing with bullying in school and cyber space. Our highly qualified and dedicated staff deliver quality education for all students focusing on developing skills in literacy, numeracy, and technology.  Children have the opportunity to participate in debating, public speaking and spelling bees at class, school and regional levels. Enrichment programs are in place to extend and support high performing students whilst individual programs cater for students experiencing difficulty with their learning.  Student achievement is recognised and celebrated and is an important part of the school fibre.  Our school has three support classes for students with intellectual disabilities.  These students are a valued and integrated part of the school and participate in whole school activities whilst enjoying being supported by dedicated and highly trained teachers and support staff. The school has a strong reputation for high quality performing arts programs.  Our school choir, dance groups and school band perform regularly at school, at a local level and at festivals throughout the year.
