Ermington West Public School

Ermington West Public School is home to a community of learners. Teachers, support staff and families work tirelessly to provide students with experiences that far outweigh the size and resources of the school. Ermington West PS teachers are focused on building a collective capacity. The teachers work in teams to consistently improve student learning. Our teachers are committed professionals who place student learning at the centre of all professional learning and practice. Our teachers are the lead learners of the school. They differentiate outcomes, content, teaching strategies, products and learning environment; provide core and extended outcomes for all students; deliver specific and direct instruction of literacy and numeracy skills; facilitate opportunities for students to collaborate on real world issues and problems and celebrate the individual strengths, needs and interests of learners. The parents and families of Ermington West PS are our partners in learning. The community is actively involved in key aspects of decision making and are valued contributors to many facets of school life. Our families are passionate about the provision of quality student learning experiences. Our community involvement is an integral aspect of our school culture. Our families: are visible partners of learning and support the school's approach to learning; share their expertise with students; volunteer to benefit all students; form a very active and interested P&C who work tirelessly to support learning and create new opportunities for students. Our students are the leaders of the future. They: initiate, organise and lead sporting and creative arts programs; mentor younger students in literacy and numeracy; engage in inquiry based, collaborative learning; create their own learning opportunities through elective classes and engage with the wider community through weekly visits to Arrunga, Uniting Care; Possum Patch Child care Centre and Active Kids preschool programs.
