Oxley Park Public School

Our motto 'Strive to Achieve' reflects the philosophy of Oxley Park Public School. In all our endeavours the dedicated staff at Oxley Park Public School work to ensure that each student has the opportunity to achieve his or her personal best. The school achieves its mission by continuing with a strong focus on academic learning and promotes and values the creative, personal, physical and social development of all students. Our school provides quality literacy and numeracy programs from preschool to Year 6. Oxley Park Public School receives Priority School Funding and is involved in the National Partnership Low SES strategies. This funding assists in implementing innovative practices which support students in literacy and numeracy development. We provide a number of programs to support our individual learner's needs including Reading Recovery, Targeted Reading Years 3-6, Multilit, QuickSmart and English as a Second Language. Ongoing professional learning is provided for all teachers and ensures students are engaged in quality learning programs. We are well resourced and provide students access to the latest technologies. A modern computer room, two connected classrooms, interactive whiteboards and computers in all classes, and innovative software ensure the best start for every child. All our classrooms are air-conditioned and we have a new state of the art library to enhance students learning opportunities. We are a proud member of the Colyton Learning Community, a group of schools committed to working together to provide the best education for all students. In 2010 Oxley Park Public School received a Director-General's School Achievement Award for the project 'Community, leadership, cooperation - creating a sustainable learning community'. The school continues to achieve outstanding success in the areas of Creative Arts and Sport. Our students have performed in the state finals for J-Rock and Wakakirri and have been invited to perform in the State Dance Festival and at the Sydney Opera House as members of the Pulse Concert. Oxley Park Public School provides a comprehensive sporting program, including our involvement in the Active After School Communities project and in district competitions. Students from the school have achieved outstanding results in regional and state athletics, cross country and swimming. Oxley Park Public School is a Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) school. Our school-wide expectations 'Be Respectful, Be Safe and Be a Learner' are taught each and every day. Our preschool caters for families in the local area providing valuable learning in the year prior to school. The school plays an important role in the community through the Oxley Park Network (OPeN) working closely with Mission Australia to provide parent courses and activities for families at our school.
