Jannali East Public School

Jannali East Public School is a medium-sized primary school located in the Sutherland Shire. Positive Behaviour for Learning underpins the school's high expectations and supportive wellbeing programs. The staff, students, parents and wider community contribute to the positive school tone.  The classrooms, hall and library are bright and well equipped with interactive whiteboards, connected classrooms, ipads, computers and engaging curriculum based learning materials. Students have spacious playing areas bordered by trees and gardens featuring chess tables, passive play areas, a netball court, mini soccer field and a basketball court. Best practice in teaching and learning is achieved due to the commitment of staff, professional learning and a genuine quest for each and every student to achieve their personal best academically, on the sporting field or on the stage. There is a strong emphasis on programs to develop, support and extend students' skills in literacy and numeracy as well as opportunities for students to access support programs such as Reading Recovery (Year 1). Students have the opportunity to participate in a selection of extra-curricular activities including: dance, band, drama, choir, debating, making movies, leadership development and sport. Our school targets focus on the implementation of the Australian Curriculum, assessment, technology, and wellbeing. Positive student welfare practices provide the foundation for the successful learning environment we create supported by a strong Learning and Support Team, and programs such as Restorative Practice, Peer Support, Peer Mentoring, Buddies and Bounce Back. Student Leadership is a unique feature of our school as student representatives K-6 work with the Captains and Prefects to support school, local and global initiatives. Jannali East Public School has an excellent Before and After School Care facility on site which is operated by a school-based parent committee. Student enrolments continue to grow and we pride ourselves on our outstanding teaching and learning practices. We will continue to ensure every day at our school is a happy, nurturing, challenging and rewarding one for all.
