Killara Public School

Killara Public School is a highly successful primary school in the Upper North Shore area of New South Wales. Established in 1938, Killara has a strong tradition of excellence and proudly continues to provide an enriched, balanced and quality public education. Approximately 420 students from Kindergarten to Year 6 thrive in a natural bush environment and a strong community spirit. The school motto, 'Aim High', underpins the programs and practices of the school and supports our mission of 'Building Bright Futures' for our children in a warm, caring and friendly atmosphere. The school site was totally refurbished in 2008 and the school boasts classrooms equipped with interactive whiteboards, a new library, video conferencing facilities and a new school hall. The new buildings and beautiful surrounds are complemented and enhanced by a strong community link that jointly supports highly successful programs in literacy, numeracy, student welfare, performing arts, technology and sport. The school has a strong child centred integrated curriculum based on a conceptual framework which uses children's natural curiosity, preparing them to be active participants in a lifelong journey of learning. These outstanding learning programs are planned and implemented by a highly dedicated, experienced teaching staff working in a team environment. We are proud of our success and set high expectations where students are supported and constantly encouraged to explore, extend, be challenged and do their best.
