Windale Public School

Windale Public School is situated in Lake Macquarie, only 20 minutes' drive from Newcastle's CBD. Our school motto is 'Dream, Believe, Achieve'. The school community at Windale Public School ensures the wellbeing of all students, Preschool to Year 6. We implement programs which allow each child to reach their full potential academically, physically, culturally, morally and spiritually, within the framework of the NSW Public Education System. Our classroom programs provide a differentiated curriculum to suit the learning needs of all students. The Early Action for Success Program is in operation at our school, with an Instructional Leader ensuring the implementation and delivery of high quality Literacy and Numeracy Programs. Students are provided with a variety of other learning opportunities including successfully engaging in many sporting events K-6, performing in StarStruck, Aboriginal Dance, Infants and Primary Choir Groups and a Guitar Group. We have many strong participants in Debating and Public Speaking competitions. Ipad Technology, Promethean boards and computer skills opportunities are utilised in teaching and learning programs across the whole school. Learning and Support Teachers, an Aboriginal Education Officer and several School Learning Support Officers are just a few of our additional staff who support student learning. The school also offers an on-site Preschool, which offers a five-day fortnight prior to school learning program. It provides valuable learning experiences based on the Early Years Learning Framework. In addition to the Preschool teacher, there is a fulltime Preschool Learning Support Officer and a Community Engagement Officer who support the service. There is a Schools as Community (SaCC) Centre on-site. The SaCC is an integral part of the school community. It supports children (0-8 years) and their families. The SaCC engages parents/carers in a variety of activities and workshops, hosts a weekly playgroup for prior to preschool students, facilitates a monthly grandparents' group, hosts a gardening group, arranges TAFE Outreach courses and provides vital links to an array of other community services. There is also a Breakfast Club operating daily. Windale Public School prides itself on working closely with the school community to ensure genuine partnerships in learning are created to support all students, staff and community members. Windale Public School is a proud member of the Waiyarang Community of Schools.
