McCallums Hill Public School is a connected, creative and caring learning community. Our school is located in the friendly suburban community of Roselands. The school community is welcoming, inclusive and supportive. The students are nurtured through a strong sense of self-worth and supported by a positive welfare program. The school promotes both intercultural understanding and an understanding of how we all learn at different rates and in different ways. Our school enjoys exceptional teaching and learning facilities combined with cutting edge technology. Technology is available in all classrooms, including computers, tablet technology and interactive whiteboards. Our school also boasts a dedicated technology room consisting of thirty laptops. These aspects, combined with high quality teaching, ensure students gain a strong foundation for 21st century life. Teachers deliver exceptional programs in literacy and numeracy. Teachers implement both L3 in the early years to support literacy development and TEN and TOWN programs K-6 to support students excellence in maths. A highly committed Learning Support Team works with teachers to design learning programs to enhance the learning of all students. Student learning is supported by specialist in Gifted and Talented, EALD, Learning and Support and Literacy Intervention. Our school offers rich curricular and extra curricular programs in all key learning areas. Students are able to learn either Greek or Arabic as a community language. They have the opportunity to participate in public speaking, debating and a wide variety of leadership roles, including an active Student Representative Council (SRC). Students are encouraged to participate in the Premier's Reading Challenge and the Premier's Spelling Bee. They are also encouraged to develop their creativity through dedicated arts programs like the school choir, dance groups, ballroom dancing, cultural dance groups, school drama and musical performance. A healthy body is as important as a healthy mind at McCallums Hill Public School. Our sports programs encompass, the development of fundamental movement skills and include gala days, school carnivals in swimming, cross country and athletics. Students are provided with the opportunity to participate in workshops and knock-out competitions in a variety of sports. Students also participate annually in the Premier's Sporting Challenge. Students in years 3-6 are have the opportunity to be involved in weekly PSSA sports teams.
