Corrimal East Public School

The school is set on a large 'open-plan' property in the northern suburbs of Wollongong. Established in 1952, it was significantly added to in 1974. It is situated adjacent to the northern railway line, amidst a mixture of residential, industrial and commercial areas and is within walking distance of the northern beaches and serves the local community of Corrimal East. The school staff and children enjoy an extensive amount of community support and respect, endeavouring to provide a school environment which is stimulating, caring and happy. Strong community support is accentuated through an active Parents and Citizens Association (P & C). The P & C provides important forums for parent and community input into school programs, evaluation of progress and financial planning.Parent volunteers have continued to provide invaluable support for literacy and numeracy programs in classrooms. Staff members aim to enhance all children's levels of self-esteem, tolerance, self-discipline, respect and pride, fostering a co-operative atmosphere in which children will become more proficient academically, culturally, physically and socially.
