Narwee Public School

Narwee Public School is highly regarded within the local community for its quality teaching and learning programs, close ties with families and extra curricula activities. We focus on high academic attainment, respect and excellent behaviour which is underpinned by our Behaviour Levels system. We have a strong emphasis on school and community pride. Our dedicated and informed staff are focused on improving student learning and ensuring that all students reach their potential academically, socially and emotionally. Achieving excellence is maximised through challenging programs and ability grouping in class. Our staff are trained in literacy programs including L3 (Language, Learning and Literacy), the Macquarie University Macqlit program and Focus On Reading which support reading, comprehension and vocabulary skills. Kindergarten to Year 6 students develop speaking and listening skills and enter inter-school competitions including debating, public speaking and spelling bees. In the past three years we have utilised the expertise of a qualified speech therapist and an occupational therapist to assist student learning. The Targeted Early Numeracy (TEN) program promotes sound numeracy skills where students develop automaticity and mental strategies. An innovative, creative arts program offers the opportunity for students to participate in the school choir, band and dance troupes. Drama, music and visual arts are explored extensively. We regularly participate in major community events including the Ultimo Dance Festival, the Combined Public Schools Music Festival and in 2016 we were part of the highly entertaining Schools Spectacular. Set in large grounds with ample room for fitness and sporting events, our sports program builds on a tradition of achievement with school house competitions and carnivals, inter-school competitive sport, fitness and skills development.
