At Meadowbank students thrive in a caring environment that focuses on their individual needs and the skills required for lifelong learning. There is a clear focus of quality teaching and learning with strong programs in literacy, numeracy and student well-being. All Meadowbank students are given opportunities to develop their leadership qualities through our student representative council, buddy classes and peer support groups. Dedicated staff focus on providing quality,engaging educational programs. The school community values excellence in learning in a supportive environment. This is promoted across all areas of the curriculum and an emphasis is placed on providing a broad range of differentiated learning opportunities to meet the needs of all students. The school has an ongoing commitment to excellence and continuous improvement across all learning areas. Students are supported by comprehensive Gifted and Talented, Learning Support, Reading Recovery and English as an Additional Language/Dialect Programs. Our students participate in a range of activities enabling them to develop confidence as well as diverse interests and skills. The school provides extensive performing arts experiences: orchestra, choir, recorder and sporting programs including PSSA. Other programs include Chess, Gardening Club, French, drama, public speaking and debating. Student well being is a priority and Positive Behaviour for the Engagement of Learning (PBEL) is implemented. There is a strong emphasis on the use of technology to enhance learning with interactive whiteboards, wireless and laptops in all classrooms. iPads are also used to support learning across all stages. A supportive Parents and Citizens Association and school community are actively involved in initiatives to improve the school and promote a sense of community. Our partnership with the Local Learning Alliance provides support and professional learning opportunities amongst our local schools.
