Bald Face Public School community is in the riverside suburb of Blakehurst in Sydney's south. As a learning community, incorporating students, parents and staff, the school provides varied and high quality programs which cater for the individual needs of its students. Children are helped to grow as creative, responsible and independent thinkers and cooperative, tolerant and caring citizens. There is a strong committment to the welfare of all students with programs of Restorative Practice, Child Protection and Peer Support. Understanding and explicit teaching of the National Values underpins all of the programs at the school. Our learning community works together providing an environment that is safe and secure yet stimulating and challenging. The school community promotes student success, self confidence, a sense of personal worth and all round development. Teachers strive to engender a love of learning, develop positive attitudes and ensure the effective acquisition of basic skills in order to lay the foundation of lifelong learning. The main curriculum focus is on the acquisition of strong literacy and numeracy skills. NAPLAN outcomes show above State average results with strong growth evident. Technology plays an important role in all curriculum areas enhancing learning and engagement. In addition to the Key Learning Areas, we provide instruction in either Greek or Italian. All students are encouraged to develop individual potential through programs in band, choir, music tuition, public speaking and debating.Performance opportunities are provided through a variety of local festivals such as the St George Performing Arts Festival,Education Week Celebrations, the school's annual Showase or Musicale. There is the opportunity to develop leadership skills through the Student Representative Council. Sporting programs include team sports such as Oztag, Netball, Softball, Tennis and Basketball.The school participates with success in the Botany Bay PSSA competition. Many students represent the school in their chosen field of athletics and swimming, at district, zone or regional level. Additionally, students participate in fitness activities and basic skill development. Parents are encouraged to be involved in all aspects of school life. Many parents assist both in and outside the classroom.The Parents and Citizens Association works hard to provide materials that enhance the learning and school environment at Bald Face. Parents are a vital part of our strong school community.
