FAQs:
I have a child already attending this school. Can they stay there if I am now in a different school’s intake area?
Yes, they can. There is no change for students already attending this school.
I have a child already attending this school. Can I enrol their sibling/s at the same school?
Siblings of currently enrolled students will be assessed under the departments enrolment policy.
Families with a child currently enrolled at their assigned local school will retain the ability to enrol siblings at the same school, even if there are changes to the intake area boundaries that make their home address out-of-area.
Can I enrol my child at a school if I am not living in that school’s intake area?
If a school has non-local enrolment availability you may be able to enrol your child at that school, even if you do not live in the intake area. At schools with limited and very limited non-local availability, enrolment applications will be assessed by the school against specific criteria. Information on non-local enrolment availability for other public schools is available via the new School Finder tool.
How are new intake areas developed?
Many factors are considered to inform the development of new intake areas for example:
- enrolment trends
- opportunities to align with primary school local intake areas
- public transport access
- the size and utilisation rate of schools
- the number of students living in each proposed intake area
- the physical capacity of schools to enrol students.
