Wyong Public School
The school community is committed to the full development of the unique qualities, abilities and talents of all students, equipping them with the necessary skills and knowledge that will allow them to succeed at school and in the wider community in the 21st century. It is our aim to have this occur inside a safe learning community that is vibrant and responsive and hallmarked by an aesthetically appealing environment, respectful relationships between staff and students, tolerance and understanding of difference and diversity, broad community involvement, and high expectations on student learning. Wyong Public School is a school with students representing a wide range of backgrounds. Wyong has approximately 480 students. We currently have 18 classes which includes two Opportunity Classes (OC). The school caters for a wide range of needs and learning abilities. Most classes are formed into Grade / Stage groups to maximise student learning. We also have two Technology classes. The school has a Librarian, 3 LAST (Learning Assistant) teachers, an English as an Additional Dialect teacher, a School Counsellor, an Aboriginal Educational Officer and several fulltime and temporary school learning support officers; along with two Paraprofessional Staff (Community and Student Engagement Officers) and a Business Manager. Students are encouraged to participate in extra curricula programs covering the areas of: Academia, Sport, Music, Dance and various Creative Arts Programs, Cultural, Technology, Public Speaking, Debating, Thinkfest, Tournament of the Minds, Robotics, Coding, Chess, GATS and Student Leadership to equip them with the knowledge and skills to meet the challenges of a modern and technological society. Our school is part of the local Wyong Learning Community and meets each term to discuss teaching and learning and opportunities for our school groups. The school has a long-running partnership with the University of Newcastle.
