Woonona Public School
Woonona Public School is situated in the largely residential suburb of Woonona, 7km north of Wollongong. The three vital groups that make up a school community, namely parents, teachers and students work extremely well together in this mid socio-economic community. The school enjoys a high level of parent support and participation. A dedicated staff are committed to providing quality teaching and learning in all KLAs but there is a strong focus on literacy, numerary, technology and the arts. There are also enrichment programs which provide a well balanced, well rounded education for each child enrolled at our school. We proudly continue a 135 year tradition of providing quality education for all students and our motto, 'learning and working together', underpins all programs and practices of our school. We maintain strong academic and sporting programs, we have dance and choir, we encourage students to think independently and we believe we prepare all students well for high school and for their working life beyond school. The welfare of students and the provision of a safe, nurturing learning environment is paramount and we are very proud of all we achieve at this great school.
We recognise the Ongoing Custodians of the lands and waterways where we work and live. We pay respect to Elders past and present as ongoing teachers of knowledge, songlines and stories. We strive to ensure every Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander learner in NSW achieves their potential through education.
